Borrowing objects

MoDiP's collections comprise over 14000 artefacts of predominantly 20th and 21st century mass produced design and popular culture with a strong emphasis on items made from synthetic and natural plastics.

We are committed to promoting active use of our collections as a dynamic study and research resource not only to support student learning, but a much wider public understanding and appreciation of popular design and culture.

MoDiP wants to increase public access and enjoyment of our collections. We welcome requests to borrow items for display, research and teaching. We are keen to work in partnership with our colleagues in Accredited museums and lend objects for exhibition in their galleries. We are also very happy to consider loan requests from a wider range of institutions and organisations outside the museum sector and will work with potential borrowers to ensure that they can offer an appropriate level of collection care, management and security to any loaned objects.

Our Standard Loan Conditions are designed to safeguard objects whilst on loan. We are committed to minimising both costs and the environmental impact of lending as far as possible.

MoDiP presents artefacts from its collection through a programme of themed temporary exhibitions. All or selected parts of the exhibitions, supported by interpretive texts, are available for loan to other institutions. For further information see our exhibitions online.

To make an initial enquiry or request to borrow objects from MoDiP's collections, please contact our Collections Manager: modip@aub.ac.uk and complete an Initial Loan Request Form.
