Participatory research

Many of MoDiP's research projects have been collaborative. The resource, Joining forces: exploring participatory research in museums, downloadable from this page, is built on the experience gained by undertaking them. It provides a brief introduction to participatory research and an overview of participatory research in the museum sector. As well as looking at co-inquiry with external groups not trained in research, it presents an alternative model: one involving exclusively trained researchers or museum experts. It also provides summary guidelines on how to undertake participatory research with particular reference to the latter. The six  MoDiP participatory research projects that underpin the text are also analysed from the participatory perspective. The outputs of these projects can be seen here.

The resource can be printed on separate portrait format A4 sheets or as smaller double spreads on landscape format A4 sheets.
