Oval pressed horn/composition brooch

Description

A mid 19th century oval pressed horn/compoisition brooch. This brooch takes the form of a cross set on an oval pierced surround with a centre piece decorated with a floral design. The oval surround is finished with 16 balls or beads, one of which is missing. The metal pin on the back of the brooch has a lozenge mark. This natural plastic item forms part of the Worshipful Company of Horners collection.
