Dakkochan brooch

Description

A child's brooch depicting a black doll wearing earrings, circa 1960s. The body of the brooch is made of made of injection moulded polystyrene with metal embellishments. The Dakkochan doll was popular in Japan at the time, with Dakko meaning to hug or embrace. This item forms part of the Plastics Historical Society (PHS) collection.
