Description
A clear glass bottle made originally for Tizer, the citrus-flavoured soft drink, that has been repurposed for Radiant sparkling limeade, as indicated by the printed label on the side of the bottle. The pressed glass has four Tizer logos around the shoulder of the bottle and the lid is moulded with the words TIZER RETURN CAP WITH BOTTLE. The back of the printed Radiant label says 'This bottle is a RETURNABLE FOODSTUFFS CONTAINER, and should be used only for this purpose. Obtain your DEPOSIT on return.' Tizer was launched in 1924 by Fred and Tom Pickup of Pudsey. It was originally sold as 'Pickup's Appetizer', later using the name 'Tizer'. Since 1972 the company has been in the ownership of A.G.Barr plc but it is thought that this bottle predates this and is probably from the 1950s when deposit schemes for such bottles were common. The registered design number moulded onto the side of the bottle is for 1953.
