Lorgnette

Description

A lorgnette in tortoiseshell effect cellulose acetate. The lenses are missing in this example which dates to circa 1900-1920. A lorgnette is a pair of glasses held via a long handle as opposed to being supported on the nose/ears. They were fashionable as a jewellery accessory and were particularly popular in the nineteenth century.
