Description

A 500ml bottle of Belu still natural mineral water, blow moulded from 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) with an injection moulded lid in high density polyethylene (HDPE). The Belu brand is a drinks business set up as a social enterprise, launched in 2007 and offering mineral and filtered water products as well as a range of tonics and mixers. All profits are invested into green initiatives and WaterAid projects. The company minimise their environmental impact by adopting circular economy principles, eg. since 2019 all of their plastic bottles have been made from 100% recycled PET, sourced from within the UK. They have been certified carbon neutral since 2012 and do not export their products. Early bottles were made from bioplastics (polylactic acid) but concerns over recycling infrastructures being unable to support this material led the company to persue the lowest carbon footprint option that could be part of a circular economy, ie. 100% recycled plastic, creating demand and value for this recyclate.
