Southport travel token

Description

A blue coloured circular token, injection moulded in polystyrene (PS). '1 1/2d' is moulded into the top face with 'Southport Transport' in the reverse. Used widely on public transport across the country, plastics tokens were issued by local councils as concessionary fare tokens for certain groups of people under their jurisdiction, eg. schoolchildren. This example likely dates circa 1950s-1960s.
