Colchester travel tokens

Description

A group of two circular tokens, injection moulded, one in cellulose nitrate, the other in polystyrene. Brown coloured, 'Colchester Transport' and '3d' is moulded into the top face and a coat of arms into the reverse. Used widely on public transport across the country, the plastics tokens were issued by local councils as concessionary fare tokens for certain groups of people under their jurisdiction, eg. schoolchildren. These examples likely date in range from circa 1920s-1971.
