Description
A Beetleware oval soap dish with art deco styling. Made from compression moulded urea formaldehyde, it was manufactured circa 1926 -1930s by Streetly Manufacturing Company who moulded Beetlware for Woolworths. Believed to be an early experimental piece moulded using Beetle moulding powder (urea formaldehyde) first released in 1925 by British Cyanides Co (to become British Industrial Plastics in 1936). This object was given by the company to the donor's grandmother, who worked as a cleaner with BIP from 1915.
