IBM disk pack

Description

An IBM disk pack with a polycarbonate storage cover. Disk packs were a form of removable media for computer data storage, first introduced in the 1960s and a core component of a hard disk drive and remained in use until the 1980s. The protective cover comprised a two part polycarbonate shell with a central handle which served to lock and unlock the disk pack on a spindle. This example is missing the bottom part of the cover. It has 10 coated aluminium 14 discs. "
