Description

A green short sleeved t-shirt made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, approximately 5 x 2litre clear bottles are used to make each shirt. This active cut, technical tee shirt is fully recyclable and is made in a factory in Europe which uses 100% renewable energy. The 5-piece design makes the shirt easier to repair and easier to recycle. It is made from a tightknit fabric which makes the shirt more resilient and reduces the amount of microfibres that are shed during washing. The technical material has wicking and breathable properties, and is dyed using EcoInks which are less harmful to the workers using them, the wearers of the shirt, and the environment. The packaging that the T-shirt comes in is home-compostable. The coordinates on the label are for Harewood House in Yorkshire which saw the start of the 2014 Tour de France where the company launched its prototype cycle jersey and the Forever Tee was launched 2192 days after this. According to the manufacturer, recycled polyester has been shown to reduce energy use and emissions by 60% and water use by 95% meaning the garment has a much lower impact on the environment than using virgin material. When they have finished with the t-shirt the wearer can return it to Presca so that it can be recycled. Presca, a UK sportswear brand, has worked with Poseidon Plastics, a recycler, and a team from Teeside University to scale up the original Kickstarter project.
