Description

A salesman's sample case containing products made by Englass. Information provided by the company indicates that at end of the 1950s, the English Glass Co. Ltd., formed in 1934 to make pressed technical glass products, decided to diversify to ensure their future. An ambitious diversification strategy resulted in the formation of the Road Marking Division in the early '60s and the Dispenser Division in 1966. The Road Marking Division was sold off in 1970 allowing the company to concentrate on and expand the successful Dispenser Division. The company was acquired by Rieke in the mid 1990s and continues to trade under the name Rieke Packaging Systems. The case is divided into three layers. The lid is fitted with holders for a range of 14 pump dispenser components of varying sizes the middle layer contains 15 small pump dispenser components; the bottom layer holds 27 pump dispensers, some branded, and components. The items held in this case are made from a variety of materials, but predominantly polypropylene, and date mostly from the 1980s with additions from the 1990s.
