Description

An early billiard ball made from compression moulded Parkesine (cellulose nitrate). Parkesine is the tradename for the first man-made plastic, invented by Alexander Parkes in 1862, with the Parkesine company manufacturing goods between 1866 and 1868. This example has a slightly mottled appearance and has two black dots, one on either side of the ball.
