African continent costume doll

Description

A black doll wearing the costume representative of the African continent. This doll has an injection moulded polystyrene head with sleeping eyes and injection moulded polyethylene torso, limbs and shoes. The head and limbs are moveable but the doll is intended for display rather than play. The doll is dressed in a blue and white gingham blouse with a white chiffon trim, red floral full length skirt with a yellow apron tied at the waist and a blue and white patterned head dress. The long textile skirt has a woven label reading 'Fashioned by Linda REGD. Made in Hong Kong'. It is thought to date from the 1960s.
