Gaydon sugar bowl

Description

A lime green and white, straight-sided, melamine sugar bowl, part of the Gaydon range from the early 1960s introduced by BIP as a result of the success of Melaware. This kind of tableware was popular during the 50s and 60s for its bright colours and 'unbreakable' quality. It later lost favour due to the fact it stained easily and so is now mainly used for picnics. Gaydon two colour cups were made in a split mould the two-colour effect was produced in two stages and the items required individual hand finishing. Designed by A.H. 'Woody' Woodfull.
