Stefano Giovannoni

Born: 1954

Education: Studied Architecture at Florence University.

Career: Taught at Florence University and undertook research in the Florence Faculty of Architecture at the Domus Academy in Milan and at the Universita del Progetto in Reggio Emilia 1979. Founded the King-Kong studio together with Guido Venturini in 1980s and together and individually designed many household accessories and appliances for Alessi. Design collaborations with many companies including Flos, Fiat, Seiko, Siemens, Henkel, Lavazza, Helit. His works are part of the permanent collections of Centre Georges Pompidou and MOMA, New York.

Notable Designs: Merdolino toilet brush, Alessi, 1998. Panda Alessi, Fiat 2004, Bombo stool, Magis, 1996

Significance: Giovannoni was a founding member of the Boldest movement and, with Guido Venturini, the 'King Kong' design team. His work is influenced by the imagery of cartoon and science fiction.
