Zak! designs

Zak! designs® is the creation of Irv Zakheim. Thirty years ago he was selling shell necklaces in Hawaii and on his return to Los Angeles capitalised on his understanding of the import market by importing hand-embroidered goods.

Searching for a niche market that also used his import experience he hit on the idea of creating licensed children's plastic dinnerware. From 1988 he was fortunate to secure the rights to certain Disney characters, including those of the Little Mermaid which Zak products did much to popularise. With this the business took off.

In 2000 the company diversified into the adult market creating chic and colourful kitchen and table ware from melamine and acrylic. In 2007 it capitalised on the interest in recycling with the introduction of the Confetti range. Made from re-cycled melamine, it features the effect of fused recycled chips as its decoration.

Zak! Designs® is now a global company with offices in thirteen countries. Its products are largely made in China.
