The function of cool boxes which employ double wall construction and insulating foam are enhanced by the inclusion of a freezer pack filled with a non-toxic gel or refrigerant. They keep perishable food fresher for longer, and drinks at a more palatable temperature, than a traditional wicker hamper. They are made from impact resistant materials and can be easily cleaned. Lightweight cool bags are lined with an aluminium foil which acts as a barrier to oxygen and vapour, which can transfer ambient heat to the bags contents. This used together with a wipe clean, strong, synthetic outer materials offers a useful alternative to a bulky cool box.
