Comb with gold metal heading set with chains and pearls

Description

A horn comb with a hinged gold coloured metal heading decorated with interlocking rings, gold balls and circular mounds of glass pearl beads. Metal chains are suspended from either end of the heading which terminate in clusters of pearlised glass beads. Such combs were popular in Britain in the 1850s and 1860s. Measurements given exclude chains.
