Circular Queen Anne snuff box

Description

A early 18th century circular box, signed OB, entitled 'La Renomee' or 'the reknowned'. It is thought that the image on the box depicts Queen Anne as Fortune. She is dressed in classical drapery with a sword in one hand and palm leaf in the other. She is seated in a two-horse chariot and has a lion crouching at her feet. Driving the chariot is the winged figure of Fame, blowing her trumpet. This natural plastic item forms part of the Worshipful Company of Horners collection.
