Horn box with silver mounts, in the Jacobite shape

Description

A horn box with silver mounts, 18th century. The lid is engraved and is thought to have included a grater on the inside of the lid (now missing) to enable the snuff to be powdered. The shape of this box or mull is often referred to as 'Jacobite' or of bombe shape. Exhibited at the Worthing Museum in 1973. This natural plastic item forms part of the Worshipful Company of Horners collection.
