Description
A 19th century circular pressed horn box with a portrait of Robert Burns (1759-1796) looking at a figure representing his Muse. The legend around the perimiter reads ' The poetic genius of my country found me at the plough and threw her inspiring mantle over me'. Beneath the portrait of Burns are the words 'Vide Burns dedication' . On the reverse is the impression of a plough surrounded by a band of oak leaves. Signed Wilson. This natural plastic item forms part of the Worshipful Company of Horners collection.
