Box with equestrian portrait

Description

An early 18th century oval pressed horn box with an equestrian portrait in armour, facing to the right and holding a sword over the right arm. The legend reads 'The Great Champion of Great Britain'. Beneath the horse is a shield bearing a sword and the small letter 'a' to the left. The shield is surrounded by the legend 'Dymock's coat of arms'. The box is signed 'OB fecit'. This natural plastic item forms part of the Worshipful Company of Horners collection.
