Circle of white Poppit beads

Description

A circle of 26 white Poppit beads each bead measuring approximately 7.5mm in diameter. Poppit beads, made from injection moulded polyethylene, were popular in the 1950s. Each bead has a protruding stem with a ball finial on one side, and a corresponding socket in the opposite side. When pushed together, the beads form a continuous 'string' without the aid of a thread. This item forms part of the Plastics Historical Society (PHS) collection.
