Description
Dish aerial. Photo caption: Reinforced plastics aerial currently produced by the Plastics Product Group of English Electric Aviation, Stevenage, to the requirements of AEI Limited, Electronic Apparatus Division. The dish aerial shown consists of a metallised parabolic reflecting surface backed with honeycomb-sandwich between reinforced plastics. In addition to the reflector, the unit has a radome cover to protect the feed system. This cover is also of a honeycomb construction with polyester glass skin. The wall thickness and electrical properties of the radome are controlled to very close limits to ensure maximum transmission and minimum distortion of the signals. Bakelite polyester resin is used throughout. This item is part of the MoDiP BXL collection.
