Wind tunnel. Photo caption: Close-up of the 8 in. working section of the instrument calibration wind tunnel designed by the English Electric Company for their establishment at Leicester. Through this section wind velocity reaches 250 fps. The plastics pipes attached to the tunnel casing are for monitoring pressure distribution throughout the tunnel, which is made from Bakelite polyester resin reinforced with glass fibre.
