Description

A boxed LEGO System Ice Planet 2002 set numbered 6879. This set was part of the Ice Planet 2002 subtheme of the LEGO Space theme. The story behind the theme represents a civilian affiliation led by Commander Cold conducting top secret research into rocket science. The group were exploring the ice planet Krysto using mostly ground based vehicles, this particular vehicle is a rocket-propelled sled piloted by an astronaut. The original children's building brick system was invented by Dane, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen and the name Lego comes from the Danish 'leg godt' meaning play good. The 'stud-and-tube' connecting system patented in 1958 provides unlimited building possibilities. LEGO is still a market leader in the toy industry, appealing to both girls and boys all over the world. The bricks are made of ABS which is a low cost rigid material and has outstanding impact strength. Good dimensional stability is important to the LEGO concept as the bricks would not work if they warped causing the studs to not fit.
