Description
A blood test kit, possibly missing a tourniquet, consisting of a BD Vacutainer Eclipse blood collection needle, a BD Vacutainer One-Use holder, two BD Vacutainer tubes and two mailing/transport tubes. The kit works by first connecting the needle into the holder and then inserting this device into the patient's arm. A vacutainer is then pushed into the open end of the holder in order to collect the sample. A second vacutainer can then be attached to take another sample, without the need to remove the needle from the arm. Once complete, the vacutainer is placed into the transportation tube, slotting into the lid to keep the contents safe. The single-use needle and holder are disposed of. The BD Vacutainer Eclipse blood collection needle features a safety shield to allow for one-handed activation to cover the needle immediately upon withdrawal from the vein. The 6ml capacity, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) BD Vacutainer tubes have a purple coloured, Hemogard safety closure cap and contain an anticoagulant of K2 Potassium salt of EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid) which is a liquid solution that has been spray coated onto the interior surface of the tube. The dimensions given are for the vacutainer tube.
