Description
A silver mustard pot with a black bakelite liner. Hallmarks and maker's marks on the base of the silver indicate that it was made by J.Gloster Ltd. of Birmingham, circa 1936. It is produced by combining spun silver over a moulded inner layer of bakelite, a process that involves shaping a flat silver disc into a hollow item using a lathe to spin the disc whilst shaping it over a former, in this case the mustard pot. This item is accompanied by AIBDC : 009421.2 a silver mustard spoon.
