Description
An egg cup made from black coloured bakelite with an outer layer of silver, with hallmarks of Birmingham, 1932. The maker's mark is indistinct. It is produced by combining spun silver over a moulded inner layer of bakelite, a process that involves shaping a flat silver disc into a hollow item using a lathe to spin the disc whilst shaping it over a former, in this case the egg cup.The bakelite base has a patent number of 235841 indicating a date of 1925.
