Side table

Description

A black coloured side table with a square shaped table top and a circle shaped shelf, both injection moulded in polypropylene (PP). The table top has four acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) attachments that slot into the iron legs. These extend down to the shelf, which has four holes for the legs to insert through, and is held in place by four smaller legs beneath, that screw into place. Designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell in 1985, this piece of furntiure was originally designed as a set of three tables, varying in size, and was available for sale until 1995. Style 4583, it is reminiscent of art deco although considered post-modern. Anna Castelli Ferrieri (b. 1918- d. 2006) was an Italian architect and industrial designer. She is renowned for working with plastics and co-founded Kartell in 1949, an Italian contemporary furniture company. For other examples of her work, see AIBDC : 006878, 009335 and 009336.
