Preston travel tokens

Description

A group of two circular tokens, injection moulded in cellulose acetate in red (1d) and white (1 1/2d) colours. The token value is moulded into the top face and 'Preston Corporation Transport' into the reverse, written around the lamb and flag emblem. Used widely on public transport across the country, the plastics tokens were issued by local councils as concessionary fare tokens for certain groups of people under their jurisdiction, eg. schoolchildren. These examples likely date circa 1950s-1960s.
