Wolverhampton transport tokens

Description

A group of seven, circular tokens, issued by the Wolverhampton Corporation Transport Department in brown (1/2d), green (1d), yellow (1 1/2d), blue (2d), red (2 1/2d), pink (3d) and white (6d) colours. Injection moulded, these examples likely date in range from circa 1920s - 1960s. Used widely on public transport across the country, plastics tokens were issued by local councils as concessionary fare tokens for certain groups of people under their jurisdiction, eg. schoolchildren.
