Description

A group of sixty circular tokens, injection moulded in polystyrene (PS). 44 green coloured 20p value tokens, 13 grey coloured 20p value tokens, 1 orange and 1 yellow token both of 20p value and 1 septagonal blue coloured token of 50p value. All have 'Stroud District Council' and the value of the token moulded into the top face, 'Gloucestershire Concessionary Fare' and the value of the token in the reverse with an 'S' stamped out of the middle. Used widely on public transport across the country, plastics tokens were issued by local councils as concessionary fare tokens for certain groups of people under their jurisdiction, eg. schoolchildren. These examples likely date circa 1980s-1990s.
