Description
An OXO can opener from the SoftWorks range. The large cushioned handles absorb pressure and provide extra strength to pierce and open a tin can, with an oversized knob to turn the cutting wheel with ease. Includes a built-in bottle opener at the end. Sam Farber founded OXO in 1990 after observing his wife experiencing difficulties in holding a vegetable peeler, due to arthritis. He developed the Good Grips range of utensils with an external design agency, all featuring handles that were easy to control regardless of the size/shape of the hand or strength of grip. A material called Santoprene (a thermoplastic rubber - TPR) was selected because it is robust, durable, soft-to-touch, non-slip (even when wet) and easy to blend with other materials. Later, the SoftWorks range was introduced to sell in bulk to larger retailers (as opposed to the Good Grips series which was sold through specialist retailers). SoftWorks had a smaller collection of products that were slightly cheaper in price whilst retaining the OXO quality, identified via the red OXO logo on the handle.
