Description
A Bandalasta Ware fruit bowl, No. 130, manufactured by Brookes & Adams and compression moulded in urea formaldehyde, circa 1926. Aimed at the then fashionable picnic market, the Bandalasta range increased in popularity after being displayed at Harrods, London. This example was made using Beetle moulding powder (UF) first released in 1925 by British Cyanides Co (to become British Industrial Plastics in 1936). It was given by the company to the donor's grandmother, who worked as a cleaner with BIP from 1915.
