Tortoiseshell tray

A rectangular tray with rounded corners, part of a dressing table grooming set, made from tortoiseshell (?) and produced circa 1910s. A handwritten label on the base indicates that it was part of a set given to Ethel V-J by AV-J in 1914. The upper surface of the tray is dulled and crazed whilst the underside is still highly polished which accentuates the natural pattern and colouring.
