Yellow Halex box

Description

An octagonal, lidded trinket or dressing table box thermoformed and fabricated from layers of cellulose nitrate sheet. The handle on the lid, and the feet are formed from three layers, a clear layer sandwiched between yellow. The decorative effect of the box is created by pressing together random pieces of cellulose nitrate sheet. This yellow box is Art Deco in style and was manufactured by Halex c. 1930s.
