Small bowling trophy on marble base

Description

A small, plastic, lawn bowling trophy, possibly polystyrene , treated with a hot metal foil finish to mimic the appearance of gold. This example includes a jacketed, male figure in a front-on stance, about to deliver the bowl, on top of a gold coloured cup. It is mounted on a marble base with an inscription glued to the front. The trophy is composed of three different parts: the figurine at the top, the vertical column on which the figure rests and then the base. Each is manufactured separately and then assembled in order to select the individual components required for each specific type of trophy, eg. there are hundreds of different figures in various poses to choose from. The plastics parts are injection moulded with the figurine additionally having a metal rod moulded into it to provide extra strength to the weak areas in the design, such as the ankles and hands, which may be subject to breakage. The plastics pieces are then washed before metal foil is heated and pressed on to provide the metalicised, polished finish.
