Description
The Blackberry Pearl 8220 mobile phone was part of a series developed by Research In Motion, and was the company's first flip phone, released in 2008. The modern, minimalist design features a folding clamshell cover that pivots on a hinge, displaying a screen on either side. Prompts for incoming text messages, emails, phone calls, calendar reminders and a clock could all be viewed on the external screen without having to open the phone. Previous Blackberry devices had a full QWERTY keyboard but the Pearl utilised multiple characters on each key using SureType predictive text. The individual button keys were larger than that being offered by other manufacturers at the time with chrome coated plastic separators between the four rows. A trackball was included for scrolling around the internal screen and the antennae was housed in the slightly protruding chin section. This example is complete with the original box, user guides, SIM card, two batteries (one unused), headphones and various plug/charging attachments. Measurements given are for the phone in closed position.
