A.I. chair

Description

A metallic grey chair with four slim legs and two short arm rests. The AI chair is designed by Philippe Starck with Autodesk, a computer software company, for Kartell. Starck used generative design, a design exploration technology that allows designers and engineers to input their design goals, along with parameters such as materials, manufacturing processes, and cost constraints. The software then explores all the possibilities and quickly generates design alternatives, testing and learning from each iteration. Starck asked the artificial intelligence a question: How can you support our body with the least amount of material and energy possible? According to Starck this is the 'first chair to be designed outside of our brain, outside of our habits of thoughts'.
