Parker Baccyflap

Description

A palm sized container for tobacco made in the style of the original Wunup Baccyflap bakelite containers (see AIBDC : 006319SA). It comprises two circular, domed halves which screw together. This example, made from injection moulded polystyrene, was made by Parker Hardcastle after 1945, and was advertised as an airtight and watertight container to keep tobacco in perfect condition. The base of the container has the Parker diamond logo which was adopted after the second World War. It is thought that the name 'Parker' refers to Parker Hardcastle Ltd. of Walthamstow. which was formed over decades by mergers and acquisitions between Parker, Hardcastle Pipe Co., and Dunhill.
