Pleco

Description

The Pleco pleated tote bag is designed and produced by kna plus. The corporation started as a small textile company based in Fukui prefecture in northwestern Japan, a region which is the centre of the country's textile industry. The bag was developed in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Centre of Fukui Prefecture. It is made from polylactic acid fibre and is available in a range of sizes and colours, the colours being inspired by Japanese tradition and tailored to the seasons. The eco-friendly PLA fibre, derived from corn, has a relatively short life expectancy. As a guide line the manufacturers say that with heavy use the bag will last about a year, for occasional use, two to four years and between five and six years if never used. The onset of decomposition is indicated when the bag starts to tear easily. The pleats are non-permanent and the material is not resistant to heat, so even storage in a hot car is not recommended. The bag is packaged in a corrugated card box with the word 'PLECO' cut out on the front, through which the contents can be seen. Measurements given are for the bag when pleats are not expanded.
