Description

A 4m length of 8mm diameter Marlow Excel Fusion rope. It is made from a 12 strand Dyneema (R) core with a 16 plait blended Dyneema (R) and polypropylene cover. Dyneema (R) is an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibre developed by DSM in the Netherlands. It is known as the world's strongest, lightest fibre, being 15 times stronger than steel. It is light in weight, is hydrophobic, floats, and is chemical and UV resistant making it an excellent material for the production of sailing ropes. This type of rope is used to control the movable corner(s) (clews) of a sail. It has good abrasion resistance through ratchets and cleats, and its firm round profile aids handling.
