Description
A storm jib made from heavy weight, high strength, high visibility, woven Dacron sailcloth, with multiple rows of triple step stitching to hold the seams together, double taped and roped luff, stainless steel pressed rings and brass Swedish piston hanks. At the corners multiple layers of cloth are built up to distribute the loadings, sewn together to lock them in place, and to which marine-grade stainless steel rings are fixed. Dacron, is DuPont's trade name for polyester fibre. It is especially known for its durability, consistency and quality and is non-absobent and mildew resistant. Woven Dacron sailcloth is protected by an ultra thin layer of PET to act as a waterproof barrier. A storm jib is used in foul weather to help stabilize the boat and increase visibility and is used in the strongest winds that can be sailed in. This example is complete with a light grey draw string storage bag.
