Onyx paintbrush, size 8

A round, Onyx, size 8, artist's paintbrush with synthetic fibres made from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). Round brushes have a large belly that tapers to a fine point and because they retain their shape well, they are useful for painting fine lines and detail. A stiff brush, the Onyx is a vegan alternative from Jackson's, suitable for use with oils and acrylics. It contains a blend of 'shiny', 'full-dull' and u-shaped fibres. The 'shiny', smooth fibres glide easily through the medium and have a good spring and snap. The 'full-dull' fibres are covered in micro-craters, mimicking the cuticles that exist along a natural hair follicle controlling the pick-up and release of paint/water. The 'u-shaped' fibres hold the medium in the dip, from root to tip, enhancing the brush's holding capacity. Together the combination enables continuous lines to go further without compromising on strength. The synthetic fibres have been dyed to resemble the colour variation seen in natural hair.
