Description

A mottler, 1.5inch, artist's paintbrush with synthetic fibres made from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), replicating natural sable hair. A mottler brush can hold a large amount of paint/water and so it is typically used for large scale painting such as washes, murals, varnishing and priming. Kolinsky sable hair is often used because it produces and retains a fine point, has strength, snap and, due its scaled texture, good paint/water holding and release qualities. The Icon brush is a vegan alternative from Jackson's using filament manipulation technology to produce fibres covered in micro-craters, mimicking the cuticles that exist along a natural sable hair follicle.
