Description

A 10mm blue acrylic ear plug with black O rings at the front and back, for use when ears have been stretched. The body modification of ear stretching or gauging has been used around the world for thousands of years using materials such as bone, horn, wood, and stone as well as shells, animal teeth and claws. The practice has been used to denote social status as well as for aesthetic reasons. Previously being a common practice for people in many parts of the world, the tradition has become used less in recent times. However, Western adopters started to use ear stretching in the 1980s and 1990s and it has become more widely used as a body art form in the 2010s. 10mm is a common size to reach, going beyond this size requires reconstructive surgery to reverse.
