Clear Sprite bottle

A clear, injection blow moulded bottle with an opaque silver or grey coloured lid. This bottle, for Sprite, has columns of dimples running down its lower half, these aid grip and represent the bubbles in the drink. Sprite bottles have been green since the 1960s when the drink was sold in glass and the colour has become synonymous with the drink. However, as it is much easier to mechanically recycle clear plastic the green was replaced in September 2019. This sustainably-focused change is the forerunner to other changes to the brand including a move to an increase of recycled polyethylene terephthalate in 2020 to 50% and a change from green glass to clear as colourless glass is also easier to recylce than coloured glass.
